The Kerala High Court permitted a 16-year-old Kuchipudi dancer to participate in the State School Kalolsavam after her district-level performance was disrupted by a power failure.
The issue arose after a brief outage during her performance in Thiruvananthapuram, which caused the music and stage lights to go off.
The Court found that the disruption was not attributable to the student and that she was denied a second opportunity to perform.
Setting aside the Deputy Director of Education’s order rejecting her appeal, the Court held that she should be allowed to compete at the state-level Kalolsavam at Thrissur.
