The Kerala High Court has directed the Secretary of Local Self Government Institutions (LSGI) to audit and submit a report on actions taken for complaints lodged on the K-SMART platform.
K-SMART (Kerala – Solution for Managing Administrative Reformation and Transformation) is a citizen-centric e-governance tool for public grievances.
The court issued the order while hearing a 2018 plea concerning illegal signage in public spaces. The Court noted that many complaints on K-SMART remain unaddressed and emphasized the need for accountability.
The Court also observed that approximately 4,500 illegal boards were removed in Thiruvananthapuram, including those of government officials, and called for a clear government stance against such violations. The matter is scheduled for further hearing next week.
