The Kerala High Court, while hearing an appeal against an interim custody order, directed all family courts in the State to avoid using police stations for child custody exchanges.
A Division Bench observed that such settings can traumatize children, terming it worse than bringing them to court premises.
Referring to its previous judgment in Indu S., the Court emphasized that custody arrangements must prioritize children's emotional well-being.
Though the interim custody order remained unchanged, the Court ordered the Registrar General to inform all family court judges of this directive to prevent future occurrences.
