Kerala High Court Criticizes Red Cross Society Members for Prioritizing Litigation Over Service

  • Case Name: T.R. Vasudevan v. Balakrishnan Kartha & Others.

The Kerala High Court criticized members of the Ernakulam chapter of the Indian Red Cross Society for prioritizing legal disputes over the Society’s core humanitarian mission.

A Division Bench expressed concern over repeated litigation surrounding the 2022 Managing Committee elections. The Court observed that substantial time and resources were being wasted in court instead of serving the public.

If members fail to resolve their disputes, the Court warned it may appoint an administrator.

The court was hearing appeals against a 2022 single-judge ruling that declared the March 2022 election unconstitutional, and it will be heard again on June 2.
