The Kerala High Court has dismissed a writ petition seeking verification of the identity and criminal records of migrant workers in the state, stating that such decisions fall within the government's purview.
The Division Bench, emphasized by Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar and Justice Basant Balaji, noted the petition was based only on a letter and newspaper reports, and directed the petitioner to approach the appropriate government secretary.
The Court emphasized that the matter falls within the executive’s domain and any steps for verification or tracking of migrant workers must be determined by the state authorities, not the judiciary.
