Kerala High Court Grants Anticipatory Bail to ED Officer in ₹2 Crore Bribery Case

The Kerala High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Shekhar Kumar, an Assistant Director with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Kochi, accused of demanding a ₹2 crore bribe from businessman Aneesh Babu.

Justice A Badharudeen passed the order in a case filed by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau. Kumar faces charges under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 61(2) of BNS (Criminal Conspiracy).

His plea claimed false implication and no contact with co-accused, one of whom was caught accepting ₹2 lakh.

Kumar argued he had an unblemished record and was being targeted by an accused under ED investigation. (Shekhar Kumar v. State of Kerala)
