The Kerala High Court has granted bail to a 26-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting and smothering his 19-year-old girlfriend, which allegedly led to her brain death.
The Court noted that the medical and post-mortem reports showed no evidence of forced sexual assault.
The Court observed that the bleeding was menstrual, and the injuries were either minor or related to an attempted hanging by the victim.
The accused had been in custody for over nine months, and the investigation was complete with a final report filed. Considering his age and the low likelihood of an early trial, the Court granted bail with strict conditions.
