Kerala HC Grants Bail to YouTuber Santosh Varkey Over Derogatory Post

The Kerala High Court granted bail to YouTuber Santosh Varkey, also known as Arattannan, after 11 days in judicial custody, stating that custodial interrogation was no longer required.

Varkey was arrested over a viral Facebook post allegedly claiming all women in the film industry are prostitutes, prompting widespread backlash.

An FIR was filed under Sections 75(3), 75(1)(iv), 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 67 of the IT Act, following a complaint by a woman actor.

The court granted bail with conditions that Varkey must refrain from making similar derogatory social media posts during the court proceedings.
