
The Kerala High Court has granted interim protection from arrest to former Travancore Devaswom Board administrative officer S. Sreekumar, the sixth accused in the alleged Sabarimala temple gold theft case.
The case relates to the disappearance of nearly 4 kg of gold from the copper plate coverings on the Dwarapalaka idols and door frames of the Sabarimala temple.
According to the prosecution, the prime accused, Unnikrishnan Potti, misappropriated the gold during authorised repair work. The investigation is being carried out by a Special Investigation Team constituted pursuant to High Court directions.
The Court ordered that Sreekumar shall not be arrested until the matter is taken up next on November 28.
