The producer of the Malayalam film Haal has moved the Kerala High Court challenging the CBFC’s direction to delete or alter several scenes, including one showing beef biriyani being eaten and another depicting the heroine in a burqa.
The film, which portrays an interfaith love story promoting respect for religious identities, was granted an ‘A’ certificate subject to six modifications.
These included blurring an institution’s name, deleting multiple scenes, and altering portions allegedly showing the police and State authorities negatively. The High Court has listed the matter for hearing on October 17, 2025.
