Kerala High Court Holds Advertisers, Printers, and Officials Accountable for Illegal Hoardings

  • Case Name: St. Stephens Malankara Catholic Church Kattanam Village vs. State of Kerala

Kerala High Court ruled that placing unauthorised hoardings, flags, festoons and other items in public places is illegal. The court held that people, including advertisers and printers, who put up such installations are liable to be fined.

The court ordered all illegal ads to be removed within ten days and held local officials accountable. If they fail, they will face personal fines and legal action. It warned that political pressure is not an excuse.

The ruling enforces strict action against illegal ads and keeps public spaces clean. The court also directed the Election Commission to ensure political parties follow these rules and include them in the model code of conduct during elections.
