The Kerala High Court has sentenced Ernakulam resident P.K. Suresh Kumar to three days of simple imprisonment and fined him ₹2,000 for criminal contempt after he posted defamatory Facebook messages alleging High Court judges were influenced by the Sangh Parivar.
A Division Bench found that his repeated defamatory posts, despite a prior apology, aimed to erode public confidence in the judiciary.
The Court rejected his defence based on free speech, declined to suspend the sentence, and directed the fine to be paid to the Kerala State Legal Services Authority before ordering his detention. (Suo Motu v PK Suresh Kumar)
