Kerala High Court Flags Deficiencies in State Mediation Centres

The Kerala High Court initiated a suo motu petition to address serious infrastructural deficiencies in mediation and ADR centres across the State.

The Court appointed an amicus curiae and noted concerns, including a lack of proper venues, inadequate privacy safeguards, poor physical and digital infrastructure, and a shortage of staff.

The Court observed that these deficiencies compromise confidentiality and weaken the overall effectiveness of mediation proceedings.

The Bench directed that the High Court Administration and the State Legal Services Authority be impleaded to facilitate corrective action and ordered the matter to be heard further.
