The Kerala High Court has termed vehicles as "killing machines" when not operated responsibly, while emphasising the need for scientific management of zebra crossings to ensure pedestrian safety.
“Vehicles are Killing Machines, if not used correctly,” the bench orally remarked.
The court directed authorities to conduct safety audits and implement standardised road safety measures, noting that poor infrastructure and reckless driving contribute significantly to fatal accidents.
The Court also directed the personal appearance of IG (Traffic), the Secretary (PWD) and the Transport Commissioner, for online interaction, for the next hearing. The matter is posted after three weeks.
