Kerala High Court Orders Probe into Alleged Gold Theft From Sabarimala Temple Idols

The Kerala High Court has directed a full investigation into allegations that gold has been stolen from the 'dwarapalaka' (guardian deity) idols at the Sabarimala temple.

The order came in response to a petition raising concerns about the possible pilferage of gold coating from the idols. The court has instructed the Travancore Devaswom Board, which manages the temple, to conduct a thorough inquiry and submit a detailed report.

The bench emphasised the need to protect temple assets and ensure the proper preservation of its sacred idols. Additionally, it ordered that all registers and records be returned to the vigilance authorities for proper examination.
