The Kerala High Court has ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged loss of 4.54 kg of gold from the gold-plated copper coverings of the Dwarapalaka idols at Sabarimala temple.
A Division Bench of Justices Raja Vijayaraghavan V and K.V. Jayakumar appointed ADGP H. Venkatesh to head the SIT, assisted by state police officers.
The probe will be court-monitored, with directions that the SIT refrain from making public statements and complete the investigation within one month.
The order followed reports of discrepancies in the weight of items plated in 2019 and suspicions of involvement by temple officials.
