The Kerala High Court has dismissed a parole plea filed by a convict's wife in the TP Chandrasekharan murder case, seeking temporary release to attend their child's function.
The court, led by Justice PV Kunhikrishnan, emphasised that parole cannot be claimed as a right and must be granted based on justifiable grounds.
Observing the gravity of the crime, and also he had priorly sought release for his child's birth, the court found no compelling reason to allow parole.
The bench noted that personal liberty cannot override public interest and the seriousness of the offence, especially in cases involving heinous crimes like political murders.
