Keerthana Sarin, a second-year law student interning at Nedumangad Municipality, has moved the Kerala High Court after being attacked by a stray dog.
She alleged that even after multiple stray dog incidents in the area, no action was taken by local authorities. The Court, presided over by Justice C. S. Dias, issued notices to the State and Central governments.
The petition seeks implementation of Rule 4 of the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules, 2001, to capture, sterilize, and rehabilitate stray dogs. The case is next listed for hearing on June 17. (Keerthana Sarin v. State of Kerala and Others)
