Kerala High Court Takes Suo Motu Cognizance of Corruption Allegations in Cashew Workers’ Cooperative

The Kerala High Court has initiated a suo motu public interest litigation (PIL) after receiving a petition alleging massive corruption in the import of Raw Cashew Nuts by the Kerala Cashew Board (KCB).

The petitioner claims that KCB awarded tenders worth INR 33.9 crore each to two private firms for “Ghana 2025” consignments, which were later found to contain old, damaged, and mixed-quality nuts by KSCDC directors.

Despite complaints to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau and government, no action was taken.

The Bench of Justices Devan Ramachandran and V. M. Syam Kumar asked the authorities to respond and posted the matter for hearing on September 8.
