Kuki Organisation Seeks Early Hearing Of Plea In Supreme Court Against Manipur CM

  • Case Name: Kuki Organisation For Human Rights Trust v Union of India
  • Judge(s): CJI Sanjiv Khanna

The Kuki Organisation for Human Rights Trust urged SC for an early hearing of the plea seeking a court-monitored investigation into leaked audio clips that supposedly involve Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh in promoting ethnic violence in the state.

Advocate Prashant Bhushan informed the bench that "Truth Labs" verified the audio clips included in the petition. The recordings showed troubling discussions where the Chief Minister allegedly confessed to encouraging violence and shielding the attackers.

The Solicitor General and Attorney General opposed the request, advising the petitioner to go to the High Court first.

The CJI instructed Bhushan to submit a written request to arrange the hearing.
