Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi approached a Delhi court challenging the order directing a day-to-day trial in the IRCTC scam case.
The Rouse Avenue Court had, on October 13, framed criminal charges against Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav, and ten others for alleged irregularities during Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister.
The petitioners contended that the accelerated schedule restricted their ability to prepare adequately and violated their right to a fair trial. After the accused pleaded not guilty, the trial court ordered continuous daily proceedings.
The couple sought modification of this order to ensure procedural fairness.
