Advocate Sanjay Dubey has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court’s November 29, 2024, notification designating 70 advocates as Senior Advocates.
The plea cites violations of the Indira Jaisingh v. Supreme Court of India judgment, which laid down guidelines for such designations.
Key issues raised include unfair treatment of applicants, non-disclosure of marks, conflict of interest involving the Delhi High Court Bar Association’s President, and inclusion of advocates below the mandatory age of 40.
It also highlights Senior Advocate Sudhir Nandrajog's resignation. He claimed that the committee’s recommendations became invalid without his replacement.
The petitioner seeks quashing of the notification for fairness.
