A group of lawyers has approached the Supreme Court of India challenging the decision to not conduct the Advocate-on-Record (AOR) examination in 2026.
The petitioners are candidates who had appeared in the previous exam and were eligible to reappear, arguing that the cancellation unfairly affects their career progression.
The decision to skip the 2026 exam was taken by the Court’s Board of Examiners citing the existing adequate strength of AORs, with the next exam likely in 2027.
