The Lok Sabha has tabled the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, which proposes a track and trace mechanism for specified commodities.
The Union Government introduced the Bill to align the State GST law in line with amendments under Sections 121 to 134 of the Finance Act, 2025, and decisions of the 56th GST Council.
The legislation aims to enhance tax compliance and prevent evasion by implementing electronic monitoring systems for high-risk goods moving through the supply chain.
The Bill also replaces the Manipur GST Ordinance, 2025, and does not involve expenditure from the Consolidated Fund of the State.
