Lucknow Court Sentences Lawyer for Harassing A Woman Judge

A lawyer was sentenced to three years of imprisonment by a Lucknow court for sending vulgar messages to a woman judge, and was also fined 61,000 rupees. 

Abhay Pratap was convicted under IPC Sections 354, 354D, 506, 352, 353, and Section 67 of the IT Act related to cyber stalking and sending lewd materials. 

The complaint filed in 2022 claimed relentless harassment via Facebook and SMS, which escalated to violent threats.

Pratap contested the claims, asserting that the charges stemmed from some prior arguments, but the court's decision leaned towards how digital harassment greatly violates a woman's safety and self-respect.
