PIL in Madhya Pradesh High Court Against Long Ads before Movies, Urges Govt. Call

  • Case Name: Swati Agrawal V UOI and Ors.

The Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court addressed a PIL claiming inconvenience caused to movie-goers by long advertisements before movies.

The High Court stated it's the centre to take a call on the issue. However, the Court disposed of the plea emphasizing that "one can not forget that Time is a valuable Resource".

The Court observed that the issue has to be discussed and decided at the policymaking stage as well as at the stage of administrative decision-making.

This requires appropriate guidelines to be prepared and passed.

Recently, the Bangalore Consumer Court fined INR 1.2 Lakh on PVR Cinema and INOX in a similar issue.
