Terrorism is Rooted in Complexity, No Religion Promotes Violence: Madhya Pradesh High Court

  • Case Name: Mohd Shahid Khan v. Union of India
  • Judge(s): Justice Sushrut Dharmadhikari and Anuradha Shukla

The Madhya Pradesh High Court denied bail to an accused charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for alleged links to ISIS.

The Court emphasized that while no religion inherently supports terrorism, religious terrorism is a grave threat.

The Court found sufficient evidence, including incriminating ISIS-related material, coded discussions, and alleged conspiracy to attack an Ordnance Factory, to establish a prima facie case against the accused.

The Court upheld the stringent bail conditions under UAPA, given the serious nature of the charges and the ongoing trial.
