Madras HC Allows TN Congress SC Wing's To Conduct Hunger Strike Seeking Special Law Against Honor Killings

The Madras High Court has allowed the Tamil Nadu Congress SC Wing to hold a hunger strike on August 6, 2025, demanding special legislation against caste-based honour killings.

Justice Bharatha Chakravarthy noted the State’s willingness to allow the protest, provided it was conducted in a designated space. The party agreed to hold it at Rajarathinam Stadium, Egmore.

The Court directed authorities to process the request without delay, subject to conditions imposed by the Commissioner. The petition was filed by MP Ranjan Kumar after the State failed to respond to his earlier request.
