Madras High Court Orders Judicial Probe into Custodial Death of Temple Guard

The Madras High Court has ordered a judicial inquiry into the alleged custodial death of 29-year-old Ajithkumar, a temple guard, who was detained on suspicion of theft without an FIR and reportedly tortured in custody.

Justice N. Anand Venkatesh directed Additional District Judge S John Sundarlal Suresh to submit a report by July 8.

The Court instructed the State to preserve all evidence, protect eyewitnesses, and take action against responsible officials.

The matter is posted for further hearing on July 11, with directions for witness protection and accountability.
