Madras High Court Questions Board of Film Certification Over ‘A’ Certificate for Rajinikanth’s Coolie

The Madras High Court has sought a response from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on Sun Pictures’ plea challenging the ‘A’ certificate issued to Rajinikanth’s film Coolie.

Sun Pictures argued that the certificate is arbitrary and unfair, pointing out that films like KGF with greater violence received U/A ratings.

They claimed the ‘A’ rating discourages families, impacting revenue. The CBFC, represented by ASG ARL Sundaresan, countered that the makers refused suggested cuts.

Justice TV Thamilselvi posted the matter for final hearing on August 25.
