The Madras High Court dismissed a plea filed by a man seeking a reward from the CBI for allegedly providing information about an illegal luxury car import racket.
The petitioner claimed he had earlier received a token reward from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and sought the balance amount from the CBI.
However, the Court accepted the CBI’s stand that it had no scheme or guidelines for granting rewards to informers in such cases.
Calling the petitioner’s approach “barking up the wrong tree,” the Court also expressed displeasure over repeated petitions seeking the same relief and termed it a waste of judicial time.
