Madras High Court Extends Kunal Kamra’s Interim Anticipatory Bail in Mumbai FIR Till April 17

The Madras High Court has extended interim protection to comedian Kunal Kamra till April 17, 2025, in a case involving alleged defamatory remarks against Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.

Kamra’s counsel highlighted ongoing police harassment, including visits to his parental home and summoning of audience members.

The court also directed the inclusion of Khar Police Station as a respondent. Meanwhile, Kamra has moved the Bombay High Court to quash the FIR, with a hearing scheduled for April 8.

Earlier, the Madras High Court granted interim anticipatory bail on March 28. The FIR stems from Kamra’s ‘traitor’ remark made during a satirical performance.
