Madras High Court Issues Notice Against Nani and HIT 3 Team Over Copyright Allegations

Scriptwriter Vimalavelan has approached the Madras High Court alleging that the Telugu film HIT: The Third Case is an unauthorised adaptation of his registered script Agent 11, registered in August 2021. 

He claimed that he submitted a synopsis to actor Nani in August 2022 but received no response. After watching the film upon its release, he discovered striking similarities to his work and sent a legal notice to the filmmakers, which went unanswered. 

He seeks a declaration of infringement, a permanent injunction, and 20% of profits as damages, and has requested exemption from pre-suit mediation.

The Court issued notice to Nani, director Sailesh Kolanu, and others, directing responses by July 7, 2025.
