Actor Vijay Gets Madras High Court Notice over Party Flag Copyright Infringement

The Madras High Court has issued notice to actor Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), on a suit alleging trademark and copyright infringement of a party's flag design.

The plaintiffs claim TVK's red-yellow-red tricolour with a circular motif closely resembles their registered mark, used for social services since 2023.

They have sought an injunction, ₹5 lakh in damages, destruction of infringing materials, and exemption from pre-suit mediation.

Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy issued the notice and scheduled the next hearing for July 29. (GB Pachaiyappan v. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam)
