The Madras High Court has directed MEITY to remove the Bad Girl movie teaser from YouTube, citing sexually explicit content involving children.
Justice P Dhanabal observed that such material harms young minds and violates the State’s obligation to protect them. Though YouTube wasn’t a party to the case, the Court said MEITY can act due to the gravity of the issue.
The petitioners alleged the teaser violated the POCSO and IT Acts. While Google denied responsibility, the court still ordered action and asked child protection commissions to examine the matter and act accordingly.
