The Madras High Court has recently rejected a lawsuit from PhonePe that aimed to have its trademark "PhonePe" recognized as well-known and to prevent BundlePe Innovations Pvt Ltd from using the similar names "BundlePe" and "LatePe."
PhonePe claimed these names could mislead consumers and damage its brand.
However, the court decided that "Pe" is not exclusive to PhonePe, as it is widely used in the payment sector.
Additionally, the court noted that the names "Bundle" and "Late" were different enough to avoid confusion.
As a result, PhonePe's requests for a permanent injunction and compensation were denied.
