Plea Filed In Madras High Court Against Appointment Of IAS Officers as Government Spokespersons

A PIL before the Madras High Court challenges the Tamil Nadu government’s appointment of four senior IAS officers as official spokespersons.

Advocate M. Sathya Kumar’s plea claims that the July 14, 2025, press release lacks statutory authority, and it does not qualify as "law” under Article 13(3)(a) of the Constitution of India, as it was not issued by a statutory authority or through a delegated power.

The petitioner claims there’s no Government Order or formal notification, making the move unconstitutional and arbitrary.

The plea asserts that making civil servants political spokespersons blurs the line between governance and violates federal principles. The matter is expected to be heard soon.
