Madras High Court Questions CBFC's Denial of Censor Certificate to 'Manushi' Without Specific Reasons

The Madras High Court criticized the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for denying a censor certificate to the Tamil film 'Manushi' without specifying the objectionable content.

Justice Anita Sumanth questioned the CBFC's lack of transparency and directed it to provide detailed reasons for the refusal. The court emphasized that filmmakers have the right to know specific objections to address them appropriately.

The CBFC had previously rejected the film's certification, citing general concerns without elaboration.
