The Madras High Court reserved its verdict on a plea by Sun TV Network challenging the 'A' certificate issued by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for the movie Coolie starring Rajnikanth, Nagarjuna, and Amir Khan and among others.
Justice TV Thamilselvi reserved orders after hearing Senior Advocate J Ravindran for Sun TV and ASG ARL Sundaresan for CBFC.
Sun TV argued the movie depicted less violence than films like KGF and Beast and stressed freedom of expression.
The CBFC countered that both examining and revising committees unanimously certified the film “A” due to frequent violence, threats, gruesome killings, and abusive language.
