The Madras High Court sought clarity from producer Firoz Nadiadwala on whether any additional film in the Hera Pheri franchise, including a third instalment, is currently being made.
The case arose from a copyright infringement suit filed by Seven Arts International, which asserts exclusive derivative rights arising from the Malayalam films Ramji Rao Speaking and Mannar Mathai Speaking, and contends that the rights granted permitted only a single Hindi remake.
The Court indicated that without confirmation of an ongoing or proposed sequel, it would be difficult to assess the urgency of the interim relief sought to restrain further exploitation.
