Malayalam Rapper Vedan Moves Kerala High Court For Anticipatory Bail In Rape Case

Malayalam rapper Hiran Das Murali, known as Vedan, has approached the Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail after being booked for rape by Thrikkakara police.

A young doctor alleged that Vedan sexually exploited her under the false promise of marriage during a relationship that began in 2021. Vedan contends the relationship was consensual and the complaint arose after a personal fallout.

He argues that even if accepted, the allegations don’t meet the legal threshold for rape. The plea also alleges an extortion conspiracy against him. The case is registered under IPC Sections 376 and 376(2)(n).
