Man Wins 24-Year Legal Battle Over LLB Admission Denial

Shashikumar Mohta, a 66-year-old stock market professional, won a 24-year legal battle to pursue an LLB in Gujarat. After graduating in 1979, Mohta faced rejection from Gujarat University and DT Law College in 1999 due to a one-year education gap, as they required 15 years of formal education.

Justice BK Avashia ruled that LLB eligibility depends solely on holding a valid bachelor's degree, dismissing the university's 15-year requirement.

The Supreme Court permitted his admission for the 2025-26 session, provided there are no document discrepancies, marking a significant victory for Mohta's perseverance and setting a precedent for educational eligibility disputes.
