Maratha activist Manoj Jarange Patil has intensified protests by launching an indefinite hunger strike, demanding 10% reservation and OBC quota benefits for the Maratha community in Marathwada.
Patil urged the Maharashtra Cabinet sub-committee, led by Radhakrishnan Vikhe-Patil, to withdraw all cases against protestors, recognise Marathas as Kunbi, and begin distribution of Kunbi certificates immediately.
He criticised the state government's deployment of Justice Sandeep Shinde, terming it an insult to the government and legislature.
Opposition leaders Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray urged the government to engage in urgent talks to resolve the issue.
