Mediation Fails in ‘Oye Oye’ Copyright Row Between Dhurandhar 2 and Trimurti Films

The copyright dispute over the song "Rang De Lal (Oye Oye)" in the film Dhurandhar 2 is returning to court after mediation failed.

Trimurti Films, producers of the 1989 classic Tridev, allege the new track unauthorizedly uses the musical composition of the iconic "Tirchi Topiwala."

While Trimurti claims copyright infringement across theatrical and digital platforms, the defendants argue that the plaintiffs suppressed prior similar usages and approached the court with "unclean hands."

Justice Tushar Rao Gedela has scheduled a hearing for May 8 to decide on interim relief, as the film continues its theatrical run.
