Meta Platforms has agreed to pay $25 million to settle former U.S. President Donald Trump's lawsuit over the suspension of his Facebook and Instagram accounts after the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
Trump accused Meta of silencing conservative voices. As part of the settlement, $22 million will go toward Trump's presidential library, with the rest covering legal fees.
Settlement talks resumed after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg met Trump at Mar-a-Lago in November 2024.
Meta also made changes, ending its fact-checking and diversity programs, while appointing Trump ally Dana White to its board and contributing $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund.
