Motorbike Can Be a ‘Dangerous Weapon’ Under IPC, Says Kerala High Court

The Kerala High Court has held that a motorbike can be classified as a "dangerous weapon" under Section 324 of the IPC , if intentionally used to cause harm.

The court rejected the petitioner's argument that a bike is merely a mode of transport, noting that any object can qualify as a weapon if used to injure.

The Court relied on Mathai v State of Kerala, where the Supreme Court ruled that classification as a dangerous weapon depends on the object’s use and harm caused in specific situations.

While upholding the conviction, the Court reduced the sentence due to the minor injuries involved and the two-decade-old nature of the incident. (Manoj v State of Kerala)
