Move To High Court First: Supreme Court Declines to Hear YouTube Channel’s Plea in Dharmasthala Gag Order Case

The Supreme Court refused to directly entertain a plea by YouTube channel Third Eye challenging a Bengaluru trial court’s gag order in the Dharmasthala temple burial case. 

The order had restrained the publication of allegedly defamatory content against Harshendra Kumar D, brother of Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade.

A Bench led by CJI BR Gavai told the channel to first approach the Karnataka High Court, stating, “We cannot discourage our High Courts.”

The case stems from media reports based on a sanitation worker’s claims of mass burials at the Dharmasthala temple premises.
