Mumbai Court Denies Bail to Man Accused of Sending Oil Bottles and a Quran in Parcel to Woman

The Dindoshi Sessions Court, Mumbai, rejected the Anticipatory Bail of Nabendu Bhattacharya, accused in a cyber harassment case registered with the Samta Nagar police station in Mumbai.

The complaint, filed by a woman whose husband is a pharmaceutical company vice-president, alleges Bhattacharya sent obscene emails, posted her number on pornographic websites, and sent parcels containing oil bottles and a Quran

Bhattacharya's defense claimed he was falsely implicated, but the court ruled custodial interrogation was necessary, citing links between the email IDs in the harassment and Bhattacharya’s previous case.

The court justified this decision due to the serious nature of the offense.
