JNU Professor Suspended Over Demand of ₹1.8 Crore for Favourable NAAC Report

Rajeev Sijariya, a professor at JNU, was arrested by the CBI in a bribery case linked to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The CBI's FIR alleges Sijariya brokered a bribe of Rs 1.8 crore for a favourable NAAC inspection report, settling for Rs 28 lakh.

Following the arrest, JNU suspended him till further inquiry by CBI.

Sijariya, who joined JNU in 2020, has extensive academic experience and has published 24 research papers. 

The NAAC emphasizes integrity and transparency in its accreditation processes amid these allegations.
