NAAC Debars 7 Panel Members Following CBI Arrests in Bribery Scandal

The NAAC has debarred seven inspection committee members arrested by the CBI in a bribery case from further visits to educational institutions.

NAAC has launched an investigation into their past inspections. The case involves bribes paid to secure an A++ rating for KLEF in Andhra Pradesh.

CBI arrested 10 individuals, including NAAC officials and professors, recovering ₹37 lakh in cash and electronic devices. JNU suspended Professor Rajeev Sijariya over his alleged role.

NAAC plans to digitize inspections to prevent corruption. The grading system, criticized for manipulation, will be phased out to ensure transparency in accreditation.
